Car air conditioning is a wonderful addition in any car when it's working correctly, all passengers can feel the benefit, but did you realise that it's recommended these systems require re-gas every 18 months to 2 years. Systems that are not fully recharged will be less effective and have to work harder putting more strain on the engine and using more fuel, which is not very economical.

 

Your car air conditioning is interconnected with flexible hosing and seals, which can handle the aggressive environment under your bonnet. However, over time refrigerant will leak out around the seals. This lost refrigerant is exchanged for atmospheric air and moisture. If lubricant is not getting through the system, seals will also start to perish. This can mean expensive repair bills in the long run.

Cabin & Air Filters

 

The cabin air filter, in your car air-con system, keeps pollutants and allergens from entering your car as the fan pulls in fresh air. If that filter is clogged, less and less air will pass through.

 

Take a look at the filter photo. You could be breathing something like that in when you drive! It's recommended you change the filter every 15,000 miles at least once a year. (check your owners manual) Filters can also be changed as part of an annual service.
